This, having
experienced, witnessed and studied,
I must testify to...

"Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar"
To do something because someone claims ‘it works’ or ‘feels right’ can often be the worst possible reason for doing it [2Ti4:4] especially if the act flies so clearly in the face of scripture [Mar13:31]. There is an obvious problem with all twelve step including celebrate recovery’s new latter day healing approach; it is much more than simply eclecticism and heresy, it is a blatant syncretism that is an antithesis towards sound Biblical doctrine. This new age 12 step faith goes directly against what the Bible teaches [2Cr5:17] [Phl3:13]  [Col3:2] [Rom6:11] [Rom8:14]  [Gal5:24]. The national leaders Baker and Warren both openly proclaim: "'everybody needs recovery' and 'these are the very word of Jesus'", another words everyone is spiritually incomplete without this man-made 12 step program that distort the intent of Jesus' teachings [Pro30:6]. Both of these statements are absolute lies promoting faith towards this man-made program above Jesus and The Holy Spirit. CR is more than simply a weak and distorted gospel, this teaching is void of all sound contextual understanding and is a most serious distortion of the original intent of the scriptures [2Cr4:2]. CR distorts the use of scriptures and also incorporates the 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous [2Pe2:1]. Both of these heresies are abominations [Jer6:15] and are exactly what we are warned about in God’s word [1Cr3:11] [2Cr4:2]. Just because the name Jesus is stamped all over this new syncretism, that wrongful branding will never make it of The Lord [Mat7:21]. Doctrine cannot be 95% good and 5% arsenic, or it would be the theological equivalent of rat poison [Hbr6:8]. This means that the use of the 12 steps alone pollutes everything [1Cr5:7], making it un-holy and not fit for any Godly purpose [2Ti1:9]. The Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God, inerrant in the original writings [2Ti3:16]. All 12 step recovery programs have the same composition as poison by corrupting the "pure spiritual milk" [1Pe2:2] of God's words debasing and inhibiting spiritual growth. Every nice warm feelings of those involved and the best intentions cannot change this truth. If you take part in this new breed of so called Christianity [Χριστιανός] / (christianos) meaning “follower of Christ” be warned of these misleading teachings and lies.
"He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray"

"guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the [ἀντίθεσις] opposing arguments of what is falsely called "knowledge"—  which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith"
There is a spirit of recovery and it is an [ἀντίθεσις] antithesis to The Holy Spirit of God. This is a most relevant, spiritually eternal and lethal issue within The Body of Christ that must be addressed. While the Holy Spirit points exclusively towards Jesus [John15:26] as the only "way and the truth and the life" [John14:6] and "God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline" [2Ti1:7], the spirits of recovery will always miss-direct, lie and corrupt the truth [John8:44] regarding 1) Who Jesus is: by referring to Him as a higher power; a contrived man made delusion; a latter day symbol and a critical and lethal misdirection regarding the full counsel of God; 2) What Jesus said: by distorting and re-interpreting the scriptures; taking the Word of God out of context of original teaching 3) Why he came: by conforming to steps; relying on works and generating a self-righteousness that focuses primarily on psychologically contrived perspective of faith instead of in the atoning blood of Jesus and The Holy Spirits power; lying about The Lord's teaching by stating the steps and principles must be followed because they are from God; creating an anti-scriptural sinners separating faction [1Cr11:19] within the body; void of studying and applying all [Mat 28:20] of The Lord's teaching in context [2Ti 4:3].
"You shall not behave thus toward the Lord your God, for every abominable act which the Lord hates they have done for their gods"

"Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God"
These lying spirits have created steps and principles which are mere works that induce life long burdens, then they boast "this is the only way to 'freedom' and 'everybody needs recovery'" while keeping you focused on a handful of scriptures taken out of context, on one's self "hurts, hang-up, habits", keeping your attention off of Jesus and focusing on  contrived psychologically based disorders, not studying Gods Word in context. These are well known ploys of the enemy.
"But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men"
"For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil"
Hbr 5:13-14

"This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?"
Celebrate recovery is a man-made burden of works/steps and is not of The Lord, nowhere in The Bible does Jesus nor His disciples teach anything similar. The 12 step foundation supersedes Gods anointing Holy Spirit power and the teaching of the Bible with psychology and works. The CR faction, via their works, will always fail to accomplish what The Holy Spirit alone achieves. Everything that CR tries to accomplish is found wanting compared to the natural byproduct of The Holy Spirit alone. “The fruit of the Spirit” is caused exclusively from His anointing, a gift from God and seen only in true believers in Jesus. This true anointing cannot be worked for nor achieved by any form of works, steps, principals or anything else. Therefore, true spiritual growth happens because of Gods will and power, according to His grace and purpose, not the CR works/steps, lest any man should boast. This is the difference between those pretending to be a Christian and trying to act spiritual via “works and steps” or actually being a Christian and having His anointing displaying Gods “grace and power”.
"You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you"

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires"
The list of the fruit of the Spirit describes an emotionally balanced, psychologically stable person. Because the Holy Spirit produces this naturally, why would anyone turn to worldly psychology and CR? By Steven J. Cole
Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

"so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other"
"Warren’s CR program views the 12 Steps as generally compatible with Scripture yet seeks out verses that appear to biblically reinforce each step. In doing so, however, scriptural interpretations are forced upon concepts that either have no direct relationship to the Bible or that pervert the true interpretation of the scripture intended to support the particular step. CR’s attempt to use some of “the Sermon on the Mount” known as the Beatitudes as biblical principles for overcoming habitual sins, for example, is a serious distortion of the Word of God. Search as you may, you’ll find no commentaries that even hint at such a use of the Beatitudes." By T.A. McMahon
This is a major issue: The Beatitudes only have to do with true believers in Jesus regarding the Kingdom of God and His blessings mostly for the future. These scriptures have absolutely nothing to do with solving an individual’s so-called addictions. After exhaustive study of in-depth teachings(over 100) and utilizing every cross reference, examining original text usage throughout the New Testament, and have had conversations with numerous reputable Teachers/Pastors, I find that the usage of these scripture by CR utterly corrupts the true interpretation and because as stated in the CR literature "the very words of Jesus", the use of these scriptures is more than misguiding, this is a bold lie. Furthermore, because we are warned so clearly never to run ahead of The Lords teachings, nor add to, nor subtract from Gods Words, I highly suggest to anyone involved with any form of syncretistic teaching and Bible distortions to stop, turn to Jesus and ask His forgiveness immediately.
"How can you say, 'We are wise, And the law of the LORD is with us'? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes Has made it into a lie. The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have?"

"So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. "So then, you will know them by their fruits.

What I have experienced:
Below is stated from a perspective from direct involvement and actual firsthand knowledge of all activities.

I have found that typically, those who subscribe to any form of a recovery program have not committed to Jesus as their Lord, Savior and exclusively follow Him. Because of a reliance on works/steps along with a superseding commitment towards non-Biblical recovery faction instead of natural commitment to the church "His Body", they become polluted by  clinging to man-made psychologically based teaching and not steadfast regarding faith in Jesus. Therefore, steppers will continue ever void of the Holy Spirits anointing and power [Act1:8], there is no chance of true fulfillment of a Godly calling [Jhn15:5]. An absolute indicator is their testimonies, if one listens carefully to the personal testimonies from CR participants, typically you will hear witness to two primary points: 1) Their name and what they still struggle with, in others words what they have not been freed from yet; "strongholds and or bondage" [Eph4:18] and 2) How much "the program" has done for them, giving glory to this program, boasting about every aspect of their "recovery": how much time they have; what they are doing in the program;  recovery; steps; principles etc. leaving Jesus in the background if at all [2Cr10:17]. In other words, proving by word testimony [Jhn15:27] [Phl4:8] that the Holy Spirit is not present in their lives. Note: If participants had The Lord's natural anointing [1Jo2:19-20] He gives to His believers: 1) There would not be a need whatsoever for anything regarding recovery programs 2) All testimonies would boast [1Cr1:31] exclusively about Jesus and Him alone being the only way to true transformation [2Cr5:17].

What I have witnessed:
Below does require true spiritual discernment. Only carried by the Holy Spirit one can understand the truth and relevance of stated information.

A veil covers their hearts when the steps are read exactly as described in [2Cr3:15-18]. Jesus will always be present when "two or three come together in my name" [Mt18:20] so in spite of the CR meeting itself, when people sing together in worship, The Holy Spirit may be present until the steps and principals are read. From that time on, there is no longer a trace of The Holy Spirit; He simply leaves the meeting and stays away never to support the teaching of the unholy, non-Biblical steps along with the myriad of psychological heretics.
One will not find present implementation of indicators of following Jesus: the Great Commission [Mt28:19-20] [Mk16:15-16], instead they simply spread the fake gospel of recovery; There is promoted a fake version (happy joyous and free) of the true "fruit of the spirit"  [Gal5:22-26]; fake spiritual discernment (foundation of psychology), void of  true "spiritual discernment" [1Cor2:14]; lying recovery spirits boasting about (works/steps) superseding Gods Spirit "faith, hope and love [1Cor13:11-13]. These very few topic alone show clearly that the spirit of recovery  is opposed to the Holy Spirit, and recovery teaching and meetings are not "Christ centered" they are nothing more than "teaching as doctrines the precepts of men" [Mat15:9]

What I have studied:
Although topically these facts appear simple, the true platform of these statements is based upon a foundation of deep study. There is far too much information to convey for this type of post.

The pious participants in recovery programs cannot mature in The Lord Jesus [1Cr3:1-3] and they will continue to be void [Jud1:19] of God’s anointing [1Jo2:27] until:
1) Jesus is their Lord [Luk6:46], Savior [2Ti1:10] and choose to follow Him exclusively [Luk5:28], and
2) Never relying on nor be persuaded with any form of man-made teaching [1Cr2:5], methods [Jhn4:24or processes [1Cr2:4] to pollute them [2Cr6:17].
In programs, exclusive following of Jesus is very, very rare due to the fact that those who commit to these lying spirits [1Ti4:1] of recovery are enamored [2Cr4:4] with relying on steps [1Ti6:3-4]; man-made psychologically based teaching [Rom2:21] and focusing [Luk4:8] on themselves [2Pe2:19].  Scriptures are clear, full of knowledge and wisdom regarding those who prefer walking in darkness and remaining committed to any type of unclean teaching [2Cr6:17] instead of steadfast [2Jo1:9] [Jhn12:26] [Jhn4:23solely on Jesus, proof they have not come into the true light of The Lord [Jhn12:46] .
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

A Place to Start:
Below are suggestions that have much to do with my personal testimony, studies and experience. With any form of sin, bondage or strongholds including a reliance on any false spirit including recovery, I have found the only way to truth and freedom is to fully and exclusively turn to Jesus Himself for forgiveness and healing, study God's Word for understanding and guidance, ask God for knowledge, wisdom, and The Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and power.

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
For those deceived by the spirit of recovery, this I must testify to: Turn toward Jesus, go to Him personally and directly, never through any man, nor be guided or persuaded ever again by any form of man-made contrived works/steps/principles for we are commanded:
"'Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate', says the lord. 'and do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you'"

Mat 4:17
"From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"
Repent from your sins and turn to Jesus, ask Jesus for forgiveness, ask Him to be your Lord, Savior. Choose to follow Him only as stated in God's word void of all man made programs. Proclaim Him publicly as your personal Lord and Savior and get baptized.
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation"

Jhn 6:45
"It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me"
Read the Bible and ask God to teach you directly. Attend a Bible believing church for fellowship and nurturing.
"As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him"

"I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you"
Only as a true believer in the real Jesus, all of the truths and promises that are written in the Bible will become relative facts in your life by default. God did this for me and He will share His salvation, freedom from bondage, break all strongholds and give you an abundant life now and forever.
"The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! fear the LORD, you His saints; For to those who fear Him there is no want"

Jesus Says:
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light"

Always remember to take everything directly to The Lord
and may your life be guided by the love, power and truth of Jesus

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen"

May God Bless You and Keep You

  6. CR Lesson 5:

    “Life is a hereditary disease”
“Life is a sentence that we have to serve for being born”
“Life is a predicament that precedes death”

what do those mean? This is the lesson where CR finally shows people the first step to the kingdom of heaven, and these are the statements punctuated into the alter call.

Where could these statements have come from? Life is not a disease... Life is not a predicament... Life is more than waiting for death... If that is all life is, why would I want God to give it to me more abundantly?

I just don't understand how this stuff gets past so many people... believers who want to help their fellow man find their way out of sinfulness... and we have slogans of hopelessness to use as a teaching tool... ugh!

I am getting the feeling that CR is just well marketed to a desperate church seeking a new way to help others... It really is commercial and "pop"... It's AA with a twist!

CR has been out long enough to develop some evidence that the program is effective in dealing with habits, hurts and hangups. I would like to see some data... if, as I suspect, CR shows itself no more than "AA+paraphrased bible", perhaps church ministry coordinators will be open to looking at more sound programs like Breaking the Chains.

I think it is time for Warren to commission some research to measure this program's effectiveness. All teaching programs have to be re-evaluated from time to time... It's time for CR to be validated.

    1. Very well stated comments!
And I especially appreciate anyone who points towards true [Biblical Training] such as "Breaking The Chains" as opposed to any program.

Thank you for your study and input on this matter.
May God be glorified and blessed as we point exclusively to His Truth in all things, bringing those who seek Him closer to the love that comes only through Jesus our Lord and Savior with the power from the Holy Spirit!
